Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) has announced the ten finalists for the first-ever Eco Beauty Award, sponsored by Givaudan. They are: Alterna Haircare Bamboo Smooth; Amala Rejuvenate Collection; Aveda Men Pure-Formance Family; Jurlique Purely Age-Defying; Super by Dr. Nicholas Perricone; Pomega, Inc. Healing Cream; Sophyto Organic Skincare; The Body Shop Rainforest Hair Care Collection; Vapour Organic Beauty; and Yves Rocher North America Inc Culture Bio.

“We’re seeing more and more beauty brands focus on sustainability to offset environmental impact,” says CEW President Carlotta Jacobson. “As the leading trade organization for the beauty industry, it’s important that we recognize those companies and products.”

CEW established the Eco Beauty Award to encourage the beauty industry to take steps toward sustainability. This new category garnered more than 40 entrants. The winner will be revealed at the 17th annual CEW Beauty Awards on May 20, 2011, at the Waldorf Astoria New York.

The finalists were selected by The Natural Step, a global organization whose mission is to enable communities to better understand and integrate environmental, social and economic considerations towards sustainability. A special Eco Beauty Award Voting Committee will ultimately vote on the winner.
